You Don't Say - ZIM
YOU DON’T SAY is a simple critique and provocation that applies wherever it is presented. The performer conducts everyday activities with a piece of duct tape over her mouth.
YOU DON’T SAY makes a gesture to the community where it is performed. Viewer/participants can receive a business card that reads

This is a performance:
You don’t say.
What don’t you say?

The card invites introspection and dialogue, and in a reverse of traditional performances, if the viewer/participant wants to speak to the performer, the performer remains silent, leaving space for others’ voices and engagement.
